Role: Consultant
Industry: UK (London) premium cosmetics

Situation:

We are launching a new luxury cosmetics brand in UK and need to define a proper creative, attractive and engaging brand positioning, to make our products viral and famous. We have to select the appropriate audience, style, marketing channels, unique selling proposition and marketing campaigns to be conducted in order to enter the market and get a good share of it. We consider rich middle-aged women and would like to explore what are their interests and values, so we can include those in our brand. However, we have a limited marketing and research budget and cannot afford a massive research and marking campaign.

Question to Marcus:

What would be the best strategy to explore the market and define the brand positioning?

Based on your specific organizational details captured above, Marcus recommends the following areas for evaluation (in roughly decreasing priority). If you need any further clarification or details on the specific frameworks and concepts described below, please contact us: support@flevy.com.

Brand Strategy

The key to launching a successful luxury cosmetics brand in the UK market is a well-defined Brand Strategy. This involves crafting a compelling brand narrative that resonates with affluent, middle-aged women.

Focus on values such as sophistication, elegance, and timeless beauty. Highlight the exclusivity and superior quality of your products. Leverage storytelling to create an emotional connection with your audience, emphasizing how your cosmetics can enhance their lifestyle and well-being. Position your brand as a symbol of luxury and self-care, which aligns with their desire for premium products that deliver exceptional results.

Identify sub-segments within this group, such as professionals, socialites, or homemakers, and tailor your messaging accordingly. Understand their media consumption habits and preferred shopping channels.
