Boston Consulting Group Documents Insights & Templates

The Boston Consulting Group (or BCG) is one of the "big 3" management consulting firms (also referred to as MBB) and likewise one of the world's most prestigious consulting firms. In the 1970s, the Boston Consulting Group's founder, Bruce Henderson, created and popularized the BCG Growth-Share Matrix, a Strategy Development framework used by organizations analyze and make strategic decisions around its business units, product lines, or individual products. BCG is known for its practice areas in Corporate Strategy, Business Transformation, Operations, Digital, and M&A. The consulting firm is also known for its work in the technology, consumer goods, and healthcare industries.

Large consulting firms, such as BCG, maintain internal knowledge systems to centralize institutional learning and asset reuse. At BCG, the primary repository is known as Knowledge Navigator, the firm's internal platform through which consultants retrieve and apply frameworks, case studies, templates, client deliverables, benchmark data, and proprietary research. Internally, consultants often refer to it simply as Navigator, and the system has been continuously enhanced to improve search, indexing, and collaboration capabilities across practices and geographies.

These document repositories promote collaboration, facilitate the sharing of best practices, and help ensure that the firm's knowledge and expertise are leveraged effectively across different client engagements and teams. They are a key differentiator that allow firms like the Boston Consulting Group to outcompete other organizations.

Flevy is essentially a public version of these consulting knowledge management libraries. The Boston Consulting Group documents listed above on this page are framework presentations of the same caliber as those developed and used by BCG consultants. These frameworks are widely applicable across different projects, addressing general topics like problem solving, structured communication, strategic thinking, project management, etc. For frameworks and resources catered to a specific management topic, such as Change Management, Process Improvement, Innovation Management, etc., scroll down to the "Other Management Topics" section.

The majority of the materials found on Flevy are developed by seasoned executives and consultants with 20+ years of experience with backgrounds that include McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Deloitte, Accenture, A.T. Kearney, Capgemini, IBM Global Services, EY, PwC, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman.
