Most OCM documents track effort, whether planned activities got delivered on
schedule. This Excel template tracks outcome instead: did the change actually
work? That's Change Effectiveness, the sixth and often most neglected dimension
of SAP's OCM framework, focused on measuring impact and catching risk early
rather than simply confirming activity completion after the fact.
This template addresses the questions that come after go-live: Is adoption
actually trending toward target, or has it quietly plateaued somewhere below it?
Is a spike in support tickets a training gap that needs fixing or just
early-adoption noise that will settle on its own? Where exactly should the team
intervene, and why, based on evidence rather than a gut feeling that something
seems off?
What's included in this Excel workbook:
• Read Me tab with suggested metric categories and phase guidance
• KPI Tracker tab: target versus actual for metrics across four categories
(Adoption, Process Performance, Support Load, Training Completion), each with
a color-coded status rating for at-a-glance scanning
• Adoption Risk Log tab: specific adoption problems as observed, paired with
root cause and corrective action, since a metric alone doesn't explain why
adoption is slipping or what to actually do about it
Phase guidance, monitoring set up and baselined in Explore rather than after
go-live, active use continuing well into Run since adoption problems commonly
surface weeks after cutover, comes directly from SAP's OCM framework. Delivered
as a fully editable Excel spreadsheet (XLSX) with color-coded KPI and status
tracking. An SAP adoption tracking and change effectiveness measurement template
suited to change managers who need to demonstrate, with evidence, whether an SAP
change effort actually landed, rather than relying on anecdote when leadership
asks whether the change is working. Built to be checked regularly rather than
assembled once as a one-time report after go-live has already passed.
Usage tip: baseline your target metrics during Explore, before go-live, rather
than guessing at reasonable targets retroactively once real data is already
coming in, a target set after the fact tends to just describe whatever happened
rather than genuinely measure success against it.
