The concept of self-organization emerged as a response to the limitations and inefficiencies of traditional hierarchical structures. Organizations recognized the need for a more flexible and adaptive approach that could harness the collective intelligence and creativity of their employees.
Self-organization refers to a decentralized approach where Decision Making authority is distributed among teams and individuals within an organization. Through self-organization, teams can adapt and respond more effectively to complex and changing circumstances. There are 4 types of self-organization and self-management models:
• Holacracy
• Agile
• Podularity
• Teal
This PowerPoint presentation defines each of these types of self-organization models, as well as further characterizes the concept of self-organization models.
This presentation then further discusses the concept of the Holacracy Framework in detail. Holacracy is a specific system—embodying the principles of self-organization—that provides a framework with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and processes. Holacracy enables individuals and teams to self-organize around their expertise, interests, and passions. It promotes transparent Communication, Continuous Improvement, and adaptive Governance.
