The purpose of the talent inventory is to help small business owners, human resources professionals, and hiring managers create a "asset based" foundation to explore, design and build the ideal worker for their organization, department or for individual jobs. The talent inventory uses an approach to list talent (knowledge, skills, ability and competency) to design and build talent to put into actions and placing a cost (saving money) or revenue (making money) target.
The inventory supports the talent management process to identify talent gaps in positions, sourcing for and onboarding the suitable candidates and developing or advancing them within with a future-focus to achieve long-term business goals. The inventory helps to ensure that the organization attracts the talent it needs to achieve its objectives and overall purpose by providing a foundation to plan the talent, select the right talent for the right time, retaining the talent for the long term, and transitioning it into vital roles that will accomplish overall effectiveness and efficiency.
