DESCRIPTION
This is module 3 of a 10-module online training program on the Accelerated Corporate Transformation (ACT) methodology, developed by Dr. Robert H. Miles. It includes the training presentation, video lecture, and course workbook for this module.
Dr. Miles is the world's foremost expert on Corporate Transformation. He has led the implementation ACT in some of the most iconic Corporate Transformations, including Apple, General Electric, IBM Global Services, Symantec, National Semiconductor, Office Depot, PricewaterhouseCoopers, PGA Tour, Rockwell International, Infineon Technologies, Southern Company, and Black & Veatch, as well as a series of smaller public utilities, healthcare institutions, and high-tech startups.
The full online training program, The Transformation Leader's Guide, is available as a Flevy Executive Learning (FEL) program (see link in "Did you know?" box to the right).
Module 3, titled "The Foundations of Accelerated Corporate Transformation (ACT)," explores the core principles that distinguish the ACT methodology. Dr. Miles emphasizes that ACT's unique leader-led-at-all-levels mandate, combined with its rapid employee engagement and simplified processes, sets it apart from other transformation approaches. The module highlights the importance of simplicity and compression, illustrating how these elements contribute to swift and effective transformations.
A key aspect of Module 3 is the focus on engaging and overcoming embedded inhibitors within organizations. Dr. Miles outlines the necessity of building transformation competence into the management process, ensuring that transformations are both bold and rapid. By incorporating the ACT framework, leaders can systematically address inhibitors such as cautious management culture, business-as-usual processes, initiative gridlock, reluctant executives, disengaged employees, and loss of focus during execution.
The module also emphasizes the imperative steps for successful transformations, including the development of a clear framework and roadmap, leveraging a proven transformation process architecture, and maintaining a high level of organizational energy and focus.
If you are interested in learning more about and implementing the ACT methodology, we encourage to enroll in Dr. Miles's Flevy Executive Learning program (see link in "Did you know?" box to the right). Also, his latest book, "Transformation Leader's Guide: The Complete Accelerate Corporate Transformation (ACT) Method" (Routledge, 2022), accompanies this new online course.
