DESCRIPTION
This is module 6 of a 10-module online training program on the Accelerated Corporate Transformation (ACT) methodology, developed by Dr. Robert H. Miles. It includes the training presentation, video lecture, and course workbook for this module.
Dr. Miles is the world's foremost expert on Corporate Transformation. He has led the implementation ACT in some of the most iconic Corporate Transformations, including Apple, General Electric, IBM Global Services, Symantec, National Semiconductor, Office Depot, PricewaterhouseCoopers, PGA Tour, Rockwell International, Infineon Technologies, Southern Company, and Black & Veatch, as well as a series of smaller public utilities, healthcare institutions, and high-tech startups.

Module 6, titled "The Focus Phase," highlights the critical importance of concentrating efforts on a few high-impact initiatives. Dr. Miles introduces the concept of "doing more ON less," emphasizing that effective focus is about directing intense effort towards fewer, high-priority goals rather than spreading resources thinly across many tasks. This module teaches leaders to make tough choices, reducing hedging of bets and ensuring their teams are accountable and impactful in driving transformation.
A significant part of this module is dedicated to creating the Transformation Game Plan and the Transformation "Arrow." The game plan involves identifying and developing a limited number of simple, yet powerful Transformation Initiatives. These initiatives are crafted during the launch period by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and their direct reports. The Transformation Arrow framework ensures these initiatives are aligned with the organization's Purpose and Strategic Vision, providing a clear roadmap for execution.
Additionally, this module covers the creation of a Purpose and Strategic Vision, which serves as the guiding north star for the organization. A well-defined Purpose explains why the company exists and the value it creates, while the Strategic Vision provides a clear picture of what success looks like.
The module also discusses the Success Model and the process of Rapid Due Diligence, which involves a thorough assessment of the organization's current state to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. By focusing on a few critical Transformation Initiatives and aligning them with a clear Purpose and Vision, leaders can drive rapid, effective change within their organizations.
