Change Managers often stand in the tension between strategy and people, logic and emotion. Imposter syndrome can be an inevitable companion in that space. But it doesn't have to be a permanent one. With reflection, connection, and evidence-based confidence, it can be replaced with a strong internal compass and an authentic sense of authority. Imposter syndrome is a persistent feeling of inadequacy and doubt, despite evidence of competence and success. It's a psychological experience where individuals feel like they are a fraud, despite having achievements and qualifications that prove otherwise. Those with imposter syndrome often fear being exposed as not as competent as they are perceived to be. Many Change Managers, despite being successful at what they do, often suffer from Imposter Syndrome which is driven by criticism from unrealistic expectations from both their stakeholders and from project sponsors.
These slides cover a number of some things a Change Manager can do to get over that feeling of self-doubt and inadequacy?
