A different sexual orientation does not impact performance. It does, however, impact teamwork and communication when other team members are judgmental, are homophobic or are ignorant and treat those with different sexual orientations as deficient and/or immoral. The lack of compassion, acceptance and humanity demonstrated is toxic to the organization and results in a level of dysfunction that dramatically impacts productivity and quality. Customers aren't immune either if team members refuse to provide services/products to those who are or are assumed to be members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. In the long run, revenue and profitability may be dramatically impacted with a decrease in the organization's employee and customer bases.
