PDF DESCRIPTION

This product (Resolving Workplace Conflicts: Employee Relations - Intolerance of Hidden Disabilities) is a 4-page PDF document with a supplemental Zip archive file document, which you can download immediately upon purchase.

Some employees resent others because they feel special accommodations are made for what is perceived to be a lack of any physical disability. Not all disabilities are visible, such as being deaf in one ear while having only 20 percent hearing in the other ear. While some of her coworkers are aware of her condition, they make snide comments about her "only hearing what she wants to hear." They've complained to their supervisor that they are "tired of repeating themselves." Other employees suffering from cancer, debilitating back pain and multiple sclerosis are criticized for using handicap parking spaces. These health conditions may or may not be public knowledge, but these employees have been accused of using their disabilities as an excuse to not perform because of a perception of an unwillingness to work hard. For the record, they have performed admirably, are highly reliable and have received good performance ratings. They are wonderful with customers and are sensitive and compassionate, unlike some of their coworkers.

With this tool you get the following:

•  The effects discrimination has on team members with "hidden" disabilities.
•  Considerations for why this discrimination occurs.
•  Numerous solutions for addressing this type of discrimination.
•  Ideas for negotiating/adjusting solutions.
•  Potential barriers and ways to overcome them to achieve resolution.
•  Implementation timeframe.
•  Follow-up review commitments.

Additionally, we provide a blank, editable Conflict Resolution Worksheet and the Worksheet Guidelines providing a step-by-step process for addressing your own workplace conflicts.
