Teach SPC with the training deck, then apply it with the workbook every exercise is built on. Bought separately the two cost $88; together they cost $69.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
SPC Practitioner Training (PowerPoint, 77 slides). Eleven modules from variation thinking to capability, trainer notes on every slide, native editable charts, ten exercises and a full answer key.
Statistical Process Control Excel Toolkit (Excel, 14 worksheets). Seven control charts, capability and a full Gage R&R, calculated for you, with sample data on every sheet and no macros.
WHY TOGETHER
Eight of the ten exercises in the deck are done in the toolkit, and the answer key quotes the toolkit's own figures, so participants practise on a working tool rather than on paper. After the course, the same workbook stays on their desk as the tool they use on real data.
THE COURSE
1 Variation thinking. The voice of the process against the voice of the customer, and why adjusting a stable process makes it worse, demonstrated with Deming's funnel.
2 Common and special cause. Examples from all six M sources, the two classic mistakes, and stable versus capable.
3 Measurement system first. Bias, linearity, stability, repeatability and reproducibility; the average and range Gage R&R method step by step; acceptance criteria and how to read a real result.
4 Choosing the chart. A decision tree for I-MR, Xbar-R, Xbar-S, p, np, c and u, and rational subgrouping.
5 Variables charts. Formulas and constants, why you read the spread chart first, Phase I and Phase II, and the errors that make limits meaningless.
6 Attribute charts. Defectives against defects, the p, np, c and u formulas, and why p chart limits move.
7 Reading signals and reacting. The eight Nelson rules, the false alarm cost of each rule set, three signal patterns to recognise on sight, and a written reaction plan.
8 Process capability. Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk, what the numbers mean in parts per million, the gap between short and long term, and the normality assumption.
9 SPC on the shop floor. Which characteristics to chart, typical IATF 16949 and PPAP expectations, the control plan link, and the audit questions that reveal whether SPC is real.
10 Worked case. One shaft diameter taken from gauge study to control chart to capability to actions.
11 Exercises and answer key. Answers to all ten exercises, model answers for the open ones, and eight principles to take away.
THE TOOLKIT
Chart Selector. Answer four questions and it names the correct chart for your data, and explains why.
I-MR Chart. Individuals and Moving Range for single measurements. All eight Nelson rules calculated per point, with rules 4, 7 and 8 switchable, because each extra rule raises the false alarm rate.
Xbar-R Chart. Subgroups of 2 to 10. Change the subgroup size and A2, D3, D4 and d2 update automatically.
Xbar-S Chart. Subgroups of 10 to 25, using A3, B3, B4 and c4.
p, c and u Charts. Proportion defective with limits that adjust to each subgroup's sample size, defects per constant area of opportunity, and defects per unit where that area varies. An np chart is covered by the p chart at a constant sample size.
Capability. Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk, estimated ppm outside specification and sigma level, each with a written reading. Short term and long term are reported separately, with a warning when the two diverge, and the sheet tells you plainly when the process is not stable enough for capability to mean anything.
Gage R&R. A complete average and range study: ten parts, three operators, two trials. EV, AV, GRR, PV and ndc, with %GRR against both study variation and tolerance. When those two verdicts disagree the sheet explains why, and it tells you whether the problem is the gauge or the operators.
Interpreting Signals. For every rule: the likely cause, what to do, and the common wrong reaction that makes it worse.
Nelson Rules and Constants. All eight rules with their false alarm behaviour, and A2, A3, d2, D3, D4, B3, B4 and c4 for n = 2 to 25.
FORMAT
Two files: one PowerPoint (.pptx, 16:9) and one Excel workbook (.xlsx). No macros. Excel 2016 or later, or LibreOffice.
