Full Length Mock Exam: Updated for the July 2026 PMP ECO
The PMP exam landscape has undergone a significant transformation with the launch of the July 2026 Exam Content Outline. This updated mock exam is designed to reflect these sweeping changes—from the rebalanced domain weightings to new question types and emerging topics like AI and sustainability.
Key Structural Changes
The new exam consists of 185 questions to be completed in 240 minutes, an increase from the previous 230 minutes. The extra time accommodates more complex, scenario-based questions with greater reading demands. The exam includes 10 pretest questions (down from 15) that do not affect your score.
The three performance domains have been significantly reweighted. The People domain drops from 42% to 33%, the Process domain increases from 50% to 41%, and the Business Environment domain rises dramatically from 8% to 26%. This fundamental shift means project managers are now expected to demonstrate strategic business thinking, value delivery, and organizational alignment rather than just execution skills. Approximately 47 of the 170 scored questions now cover strategy, AI, sustainability, and organizational change management.
Agile, adaptive, and hybrid approaches now account for approximately 60% of exam content, up from 50%. These approaches are integrated throughout all three domains rather than presented as isolated topics.
New Topics and Content Areas
AI-related questions may cover machine learning-assisted estimating, natural language processing in risk identification, predictive analytics in progress monitoring, and appropriate oversight and ethical use of AI tools. The exam now tests environmental, social, and governance considerations, including environmental compliance, social responsibility, and governance transparency.
New Question Types
The July 2026 ECO introduces three new question formats. Case Study Sets present a detailed project scenario followed by multiple related questions, requiring consistent judgment across interconnected decisions. Graphic-Based Questions test interpretation of visual data including Gantt charts, network diagrams, burndown charts, cumulative flow diagrams, and EVM S-curves. Multi-Source Scenario Questions include three to four linked questions based on the same case material, where earlier answers may affect the logic of subsequent questions.
Exam Administration and Breaks
The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE. You receive two optional 10-minute breaks—the first after the case study section at Question 60, and the second at approximately the midpoint of the remaining questions. The breaks do not count against your 240 minutes. Critical rule: once you begin a break, you cannot return to the previous section, so review your answers before starting your break, not afterward.
PMP Mindset for the New Era
Apply the following principles: strategic focus on business outcomes before process mechanics; adaptive thinking to apply predictive, agile, or hybrid approaches based on the scenario; stakeholder engagement prioritizing communication and alignment; sustainability awareness factoring environmental and social impacts; and root cause analysis addressing underlying issues rather than symptoms.
Final Preparation Tips
Dedicate approximately 25% of your study time to Business Environment topics. Practice new formats like case study sets and graphic-based questions. Expect agile and hybrid approaches to appear across all domains. Use PMBOK 8th Edition as your primary reference—it combines 6th Edition processes with 7th Edition principles plus new AI and ESG content.
You have put in the work. Take a deep breath, trust your preparation, and begin when you are ready. Good luck.
