DESCRIPTION
The ability to accurately measure the extent a problem exists is an important part of process improvement. Measuring a problem is, at first glance, very straightforward. But a simple exercise will show that measuring even a simple thing such as time, is difficult. Ask three people near you what time it is. It is likely you will get three different answers. Knowing the current time to the nearest minute or second is not critical in everyday life. But in business processes, it can be very critical. In this module we look at the contribution of the various components of measurement error and how they relate to overall process variation, identify the importance, different types, and project relevance of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and demonstrate how an MSA is conducted.
This module is 83 slides of dense material that provides a comprehensive review of MSA. It is suitable for independent study or formal classroom training and includes a list of tools, exercise and quiz questions.
