Apart from the phrase "We've always done it that way" there is another phrase that is used by stakeholders which is What's In It For Me" for which they will want answers from the Change Managers when engaging with them because this will make the difference between support or resistance to the change. To an extent, you can work out the answer, based on the feedback you get from your stakeholder engagement process and by undertaking impact analysis.
But what is it exactly that stakeholders are asking for? They're really asking for specific personal benefits or outcomes that make the change valuable to them. Addressing this question is crucial for getting buy-in and reducing resistance. The "storyboard" I have created provides 10 specific reasons why stakeholders would ask that question and an idea of what answers they can expect which should be tailored based on insights gathered from the stakeholder engagement process and impact analysis, creating a clear narrative of benefits aligned with each stakeholder's unique priorities.
