DESCRIPTION
Controlling expenses is important.
If you want to maximize the profits of a business, it is important to understand exactly where you stand on various cost categories. This simple tracker will make it easy to tighten up expense reporting and measurement against a defined expense budget per month.
If you don't control expenses, they will control your business. The first step in getting this part of the business under control, is looking at them and knowing what they should be every month.
This Accounting spreadsheet was designed to tighten up expense tracking and budgeting. It was made to be super easy for anyone to use. This sheet will work for up to 250 expense categories and you can enter well into 40 to 50 thousand line items before the sheet starts to get unstable.
The unique expense categories are defined in a single column and then that drives what you can select from the expense category column in the data entry tab. All you need to enter is the date, amount, category, and expense description.
The sheet will automatically calculate the total expenses by month and by categories. You can manually define a monthly expense budget and a visualizations will show how your actual expense compare to this budget over time. There is also annual tracking / visuals.
I did add an automated filter section where the user can report all the line items in a given expense category filtered by amount and a separate report that filters by most recent date.
NOTE: The download includes an Excel version and the Google Sheet link. The Google Sheet version just requires a free Gmail account to use. The Excel version will work fine except for the last two filter tabs. For those two work for you, you must have Office 365 as well as to be in the 'Office Insiders' program (free).
