DESCRIPTION
Deviation in Performance results in our set objectives not being achieved, resulting in criticism from stakeholders, among other more severe consequences. One reason for the inability to meet Performance objectives is that the individual goals of the organization's employees do not match up with the organization's larger goals.
This PowerPoint presentation discusses the following 6 factors that, when taken into account, can help align individual goals with the strategic objectives of the organization. Performance Alignment occurs when actual performance synchronizes with expected performance. The 6 factors of Performance Alignment are:
1. Clarity – Define the success variable as well as the value of this variable that will be considered an achievement.
2. Commitment – Commitment to achieving a certain outcome is necessary on the part of the manager as well as the performer.
3. Competence – Competent people can vary their behavior according to circumstances in order to consistently achieve an outcome.
4. Cooperation – Broader objectives are achieved through the cooperation of the network of individual living control systems.
5. Connections – Connecting the performer's actions with the intended outcomes is critical in order to have their full commitment.
6. Circumstances – Work environment poses the challenge of many people trying to manipulate the same set of factors to gain varied outcomes. Managers should help performers control those actors and factors.
When managers and performers exercise control using the above factors, they are able to turn the odds in their favor to quite a tangible extent. All 6 factors project individuals as "living control systems"—goal-oriented creatures striving to make their perceptions synchronize with their expectations. If one factor is out of sync with the rest, it is not possible to move ahead effectively.
This PowerPoint presentation on 6 Factors of Performance Alignment also includes a checklist—a series of questions pertaining to each factor—for managers and performers to make use of in order to implement the factors above. It also includes slide templates for you to leverage within your own business presentations.
This presentation also clarifies the distinction between Performance Alignment and Performance Management, emphasizing their unique objectives. It provides actionable insights for managers to create a conducive environment for performers to excel.
