Root Cause Hypothesis is an educated guess as to the cause of a problem in a process. Root Cause Hypothesis is part of the Analyze Phase in DMAIC. In order to form Hypotheses regarding the causes of process issues, one must conduct Root Cause Analysis which involves questioning and investigating to move past symptoms to the true root of the problem.
