The Mine Energy Optimization Model – Excel Edition is a formula-driven planning tool for evaluating alternative mine energy-resource portfolios under cost, reliability, emissions and renewable-energy constraints.

The workbook evaluates Solar PV, Wind, Hydro, Battery Storage, Grid Supply, Natural Gas and Diesel capacity. Users can activate a manual capacity plan or select the best solution generated by the built-in Genetic Algorithm or Monte Carlo optimizer.

Both optimization engines evaluate 5,000 candidate solutions. The Genetic Algorithm uses 100 generations of 50 candidates, including elite retention, crossover and mutation. The Monte Carlo engine independently generates 5,000 random capacity combinations. Pressing F9 produces a new optimization session.

The selected capacity plan feeds a transparent 24-hour dispatch model showing hourly demand, resource availability, supply allocation, battery state of charge, unserved energy, operating cost, emissions and renewable-energy contribution.

The model also provides:
