Help participants build a more productive working relationship with their manager through structured practice, realistic workplace scenarios, and clearer day-to-day communication.
Managing Up: Facilitator-Led Workshop Kit is an English-language training package for facilitators, learning and development teams, HR professionals, and managers running a live development session. It focuses on practical behaviors participants can rehearse: clarifying priorities, checking expectations, raising risks early, requesting support, disagreeing respectfully, and making their contribution visible with evidence.
The workshop follows four connected modules. Adaptability explores priorities, working preferences, useful evidence, and commitments that can be responsibly met under pressure. Initiative develops capability through manageable practice and proactive communication that helps a manager make decisions. Emotional Intelligence addresses empathy, trust, constructive disagreement, complementary strengths, fair recognition, and clear team handoffs. Positioning helps participants identify and describe their contribution, show relevant evidence, and develop their impact sustainably.
The primary file is a 62-slide PowerPoint presentation. Text, shapes, and framework diagrams are editable; character illustrations are raster images. The deck includes 12 question-and-debrief pairs, with questions and answers on separate slides so the facilitator can allow discussion before revealing a response. An integrated practice scenario brings the modules together around competing urgent tasks, limited capacity, a recommendation, and a revised commitment.
The accompanying ZIP provides the supporting materials for preparation and delivery. It includes a PDF copy of the slide deck; an 8-page facilitator plan; 32 pages of slide-by-slide facilitator scripts covering all 62 slides; a 16-page participant workbook; 13 pages of detailed debrief answers covering the 12 question-and-debrief pairs; a one-page facilitator quick card; a one-page workshop feedback form; a two-page course-kit README; and a slide crosswalk. The guides and forms are supplied in editable Word and PDF formats.
Use the facilitator plan and scripts to prepare the session, give participants the workbook for exercises and reflection, and keep the detailed answers with the facilitator until discussion is complete. The quick card supports live delivery, while the feedback form supports a post-session review. Slide references across the supporting materials follow the same 62-slide sequence.
The provisional delivery plan allocates 225 minutes to teaching and practice, plus 20 minutes of breaks. This timing has not been piloted and should be rehearsed and adjusted for the group, discussion depth, and delivery setting. The kit is designed to support facilitated learning and practical action planning; it does not promise a particular response from a manager or a guaranteed workplace outcome.
