Construction Job Profit & Budget Control Dashboard is a practical management tool designed for contractors, builders, construction companies, project managers, and business owners who need a clearer view of project profitability, cost performance, cash collection, and financial risk across multiple jobs.
The model provides a centralized structure for managing up to 50 construction projects. Users can create a master project list, enter approved project budgets by cost category, update actual costs, monitor invoicing and collections, and review financial performance from a consolidated management dashboard.
The workbook is built around a simple Project ID system that connects project information across the model. Approved budgets can be broken down into materials, labour, subcontractors, equipment, transport, permits, other costs, and contingency. Actual project spending is then compared with the approved budget to identify budget variance, cost burn, and potential cost-control issues.
A key feature of the model is its forecast-at-completion methodology. The workbook automatically estimates final project cost based on actual expenditure and project progress. Where management has a more accurate forecast, an optional Manager Forecast Final Cost can be entered to override the automatic estimate. This allows users to combine formula-driven monitoring with practical management judgment.
The dashboard consolidates contract value, approved budget, actual cost, final forecast cost, forecast profit, forecast margin, project health, invoicing, collections, and outstanding receivables. Projects are classified using clear HEALTHY, WARNING, and CRITICAL indicators to help management quickly identify jobs requiring attention.
The workbook also includes dedicated model checks for duplicate Project IDs, unknown project references, missing budgets, collection inconsistencies, and other common input issues. These controls help improve data reliability before management decisions are made.
The model includes illustrative sample data so users can understand the workflow immediately and replace it with their own projects when ready.
This tool is intended as a management control and decision-support model. It does not replace accounting software, payroll systems, tax reporting, detailed project scheduling, ERP platforms, or professional financial advice.
