A business case that cannot name its own break-even has not been tested, only presented. This eight-tab workbook is built around that.
Capital and operating costs, benefits by stream, ramp, working capital, tax and terminal value flow into a single free cash flow line, producing net present value, internal rate of return, discounted payback and profitability index – with the discounting shown row by row, so a reviewer can see where the value sits rather than trusting one function.
Three governed scenarios run from one switch, each flexing every correlated driver together. A break-even tab solves for how far the year-one benefit can fall before the case reaches zero. A decision tab gives an investment committee one page: headline returns, capital at risk, the proposition, what would falsify it, and what gets monitored after approval.
Ramp is a first-class input, because that is where most business cases miss. Every input carries a basis note. Nothing is hard-coded inside a formula. Blue is an input, yellow a key judgement, black a formula, green a link.
A decision framework, not investment advice. Figures shipped are illustrative.
