AI Visibility Audit Process PPT: Learn the ANSWER framework to measure and score ChatGPT, Copilot & GenAI AI answer engines. Download this step-by-step audit deck. AI Visibility Audit Process is a 32-slide PPT PowerPoint presentation template (PPTX) available for immediate download upon purchase.
Customers increasingly ask an AI answer engine—ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google's AI answers, Claude, or Copilot—what to buy, and most brands cannot see what it says. The ANSWER framework turns that blind spot into an AI visibility score across 6 dimensions: Appearance, Nomination, Showdown, Worth, Expertise, and Reputation.
Knowing the 6 dimensions is the easy part. Measuring them properly is a disciplined, repeatable process, and this deck walks through that process end to end.
To run a full AI visibility audit, we follow a 4-phase process:
1. Design the Questionnaire – Build a question set in the customer's own language across all 6 dimensions (of the ANSWER framework), tuned to our real competitors, use cases, and markets.
2. Run the Queries, Neutrally – We ask each question by hand in a fresh, logged-out session, in our target geography, across the engines we are testing, and capture each answer verbatim with its cited sources.
3. Score with ANSWER – We score only the captured answers, never re-querying, and roll them into a single weighted ANSWER score from 0 to 100.
4. Report & Prioritize – Develop a report with a ranked roadmap: short-term fixes, medium-term presence-building, and long-term durable signals.
Done by hand, a full audit of 50 questions across 5 engines, run twice, takes roughly 38 hours of skilled work. Additionally, it must be repeated every time we want to see whether our AI visibility score changed.
This presentation discusses each phase of the AI visibility audit process in detail. Additional topics covered include the ANSWER scoring steps, the supplementary audit metrics, and a short-to-long-term prioritization roadmap, among others.
This deck also includes slide templates for you to use in your own business presentations.
The AI Visibility Audit Process consists of 4 critical phases: Design, Run, Score, and Report. In the Design phase, a tailored questionnaire is created, focusing on 6 dimensions relevant to the client's competitive landscape. During the Run phase, queries are executed in a controlled environment, ensuring neutrality and accuracy across selected engines. The Score phase utilizes the ANSWER framework to quantify responses, generating a score from 0 to 100 based on captured data. Finally, the Report phase delivers a prioritized roadmap, categorizing recommendations into short-term fixes, medium-term strategies, and long-term initiatives, effectively guiding clients in enhancing their AI visibility.
The AI Visibility Audit Process focuses on designing a questionnaire that aligns with customer language to optimize response accuracy from answer engines. Key steps include drafting questions devoid of internal jargon to ensure the engine interprets intent correctly. Emphasis is placed on open, unbranded category questions to facilitate genuine discovery, as opposed to leading queries that may skew results. The process encompasses all 6 ANSWER dimensions, prioritizing the Appearance and Showdown aspects, which are critical for determining outcomes. The expected output is a weighted question set, comprising 25 questions for a focused audit and 50 for a comprehensive analysis.
In the AI Visibility Audit Process, questions are allocated across 6 dimensions: Appearance, Showdown, Nomination, Expertise, Worth, and Reputation. The distribution is fixed, with a focus on Appearance (7 questions) and Showdown (5 questions), reflecting their importance in buyer decision-making. Appearance is critical as it serves as the initial point of engagement; without visibility, downstream metrics are compromised. The total count of 25 focused questions and 50 comprehensive questions ensures signal quality, as dimensions with insufficient questions yield unreliable scores. This structured approach emphasizes the dimensions that significantly influence outcomes in AI visibility assessments.
The AI Visibility Audit Process integrates 6 dimension scores into a singular overall score through a weighted system. Each dimension—Appearance (0.25), Showdown (0.20), Nomination (0.15), Expertise (0.15), Reputation (0.15), and Worth (0.10)—is assigned fixed weights reflecting their business leverage rather than equal importance. The overall score categorizes brands into bands: Dominant (80–100), Strong (60–79), Emerging (40–59), Marginal (20–39), or Invisible (0–19). This mapping highlights that 2 brands with identical scores may differ significantly in their dimension breakdown, emphasizing the strategic implications of the scoring methodology.
Prioritizing along the customer journey is essential for optimizing deal costs. In the short term, address immediate issues such as incorrect pricing, negative reviews, or lack of visibility in customer comparisons, which often yield high returns. The medium-term focus shifts to enhancing brand presence and credibility to improve positioning in the consideration set and facilitate head-to-head comparisons. Long-term strategies involve investing in durable signals that remain effective across AI engines, emphasizing the importance of original content, reputation, and authority. Unlike paid advertising, AI visibility is built through trust and consistent quality, determining long-term success.
