DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION

The fact that entrepreneurs in extreme poverty are still able to create successful businesses with very limited knowledge and highly restricted funds means that wealth creation arises from other complex dynamics. Thus, focusing research on the micro-businesses already developed in resource constrained areas such as in slums and the challenges entrepreneurs face will complement the research already done in strategic entrepreneurship, and provide basis for, BoP market opportunities to multi-nationals etc. Indeed, knowing that business decisions will be different depending on the maturity of the market, one will expect this behavioral difference to be even greater in a poverty environment (Bruton & Ketchen 2013). Furthermore, as a result, studying strategic entrepreneurship at the Base of the Pyramid would provide a better understanding of the challenges and key forces behind resourced-constrained entrepreneurs´ behavior and thus theorize on the most adapted business solutions the firms can use to create wealth in resource constrained environments.

Collaborative entrepreneurship has been shown to be an efficient tool in developed countries to share knowledge and implement successful strategies to increase firms´ value. This business process consist in a small group of entrepreneurs within the same industry collaborating together to solve common issues (Ribeiro-Soriano & Urbano, 2008). Therefore this research proposal aims to investigate how collaborative entrepreneurship affects value creation in resource-constrained environment.
