It is trite political science that the External Environment within we operate is composed of a General Environment, and a Specific Environment. The General Environment is characterised by the well-known PESTLEIS acronym ? Politics, Economics, Social/Societal, Technological, Legal, Environmental, International and Security dimensions.

The Specific Environment is generally regarded as relevant to one's specific business, and could include dimensions like suppliers, competitors, stakeholders/shareholders, industry/sector trends, and many other, depending on the specific industry or landscape within which one operates. In fact, one may safely state that since World War II there has not been an event, or crisis, that has so comprehensively impacted the lives of literally everyone on a global scale.

These topics are the ones that seem to dominate the present surfeit of writing on the subject (of COVID-19) when one does a literature survey in preparation for a narrative of this nature.
