DESCRIPTION
The first of the five phases of Lean Six Sigma is the Define Phase. This module introduces the three high level steps of this phase, the tools used at each of these steps and the expected outcomes of each step. Executing a successful Define Phase includes understanding the problem, the scope of the project, the project objectives, anticipated schedule, the business case, the metric and the preliminary financials. A successful Define Phase also includes insuring alignment with higher organizational goals and defining the process of interest.
Many of these preliminaries are either overlooked or considered less important than the more urgent need to ?fix stuff?. But it has been shown that a small investment here pays huge dividends further into the project. This module covers all of the essential components needed to set a realistic foundation that ensures project success. This material is suitable for independent study or formal classroom training and includes an exercise, list of tools and quiz questions.
