DESCRIPTION
The Pareto Chart is a common tool used in problem analysis to establish priorities by differentiating the categories or causes of a problem into the "vital few" and the "trivial many". The Pareto Chart shows the relative importance of a set of measurements, and thus provides a prioritization tool so that process improvement activities can be organized to "get the most bang for the buck". It is also an excellent visual tool to show the relative change of a performance metric before and after process improvement.
This guide explains the purpose, benefits and how to apply the 80/20 rule or Pareto Principle to your daily work on the things that matter.
To construct a Pareto Chart, simply make use of the Excel template (secondary document). Just enter your data into the GREEN areas and the Pareto Chart is automatically generated. Change the color, font type, etc. the way you like it and you are ready to copy and paste into your presentation or report.
