For processes that have inputs or outputs that can be characterized using continuous data, SPC provides: A method of monitoring, evaluating, improving and validating changes to the process using statistical analysis, A key tool used in the control plan of a DMAIC project, A graphical (i.e. simple) means of communicating process performance and stability, and A tool used to determine ?common? and ?special? causes of variation.
The objectives of this module are to: select the proper type of control chart to use for a given data set, use Minitab, create and interpret control charts commonly used for variable data including Mean, Range (Xbar-R) Charts, Mean, Sigma (Xbar-S) Charts and Individual, Moving Range (I-MR) Charts.
