BENEFITS OF DOCUMENT
DESCRIPTION
The document provides a 470 term taxonomy of academic subjects. It covers from Life sciences through to Arts and is 3 levels deep. Useful as a tagging structure, a navigation structure or as a general semantic vocabulary for categorising or cataloguing documents as part of an information architecture exercise.
The document has a simple Broader term, narrower terms levelling structure allowing for flexibility to amend, add or enhance with definitions etc. Presented as an excel spreadsheet rather than more complex file formats the data can be easily ingested to most Enterprise Content Management systems, taxonomy management systems and search engines.
The Taxonomy is designed to help organisations within or around the academic sector to tag and organize their unstructured information with relevant, industry specific concepts, processes, subjects, and document types. The taxonomy was created through experience working within the sector. The result is a solid base platform for organisations to add their personal nuances and uniqueness and thus provide themselves with a individualised taxonomy for enabling "findability" across their content systems.
