DESCRIPTION
5S is a methodology. It is a systematic step-by-step process used to produce a well organized work area and serves as the beginning of waste reduction. 5S provides a clean and well organized work place that is more productive and safer. This simple methodology is powerful when applied properly. Along with a definition of each "S" and practical tips to implement them, the 5S evaluation matrix is covered.
The 5S evaluation matrix consists of a series of 5 questions for each "S." These questions are designed to help teams identify 5S opportunities and to visually display the results using a radar chart.
This material is suitable for independent study or formal classroom training and includes an exercise, list of tools and quiz questions.
