DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION

Lean and Six Sigma have been around for more than 20 years, to help companies streamline their operations and consolidate their bottom line. If looking at the potential for improvement, process practitioners take a "lean" approach by first identifying and then eliminating waste.

If looking at sources of variation and using statistical tools such as control charts, one may reach a performance level often expressed as 3-4-5-6 sigma. It means, the higher the sigma, the lower number of defects per million opportunities.

This material is set to enable understanding of key notional background of Lean and Six Sigma with the differences between them, as well as providing the user with the ebnabling tools for effective implementation.
