This document refers to the training module 5 only: Compressor Operation. The operation of a Centrifugal Compressor is based on centrifugal forces, which are outward and the tangential forces, which are in the same direction of rotation. Gas enters the compressor through the suction port, which is directed by inlet guide vanes to the center of the impeller. As the impeller rotates, gas rotates with it.
