This module introduces the Design, Measure, Analyze, Design and Validate methodology – DMADV. DMADV is a structured, disciplined, rigorous approach to product, process & service development consisting of five phases, where each phase is linked logically to the previous phase as well as to the next phase. Creating new products and services that are six sigma capable is a hallmark of market dominant organizations and can be achieved through the application of DMADV. The reasons for using DMADV, also known as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), are reviewed.
Other topics covered in the module include: the performance wall, the mathematical definition of six sigma capability, typical new project resource allocation vs DMADV allocation, the 15 steps of DMADV, the purpose and outputs of each of the five phases.
