Selecting and uploading your first document.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First, here&#8217;s a brief overview of Flevy to set the context. \u00a0Flevy is the online marketplace for premium business documents. \u00a0By &#8220;premium,&#8221; we mean our documents are of the same caliber as those produced by top-tier management consulting firms, like McKinsey, Bain, Accenture, BCG, and Deloitte. Registering.<\/h2>\n<p>The first step is to set up your account. \u00a0The process is just like setting up an eBay or Amazon account; or any other online marketplace. \u00a0Just go to our <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/register\">registration page<\/a> and complete the form:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/register\">https:\/\/flevy.com\/register<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that your username is publicly viewable. \u00a0Your username will be part of your author page URL (e.g. https:\/\/flevy.com\/author\/Y<em>ourUsername<\/em>), so we recommend picking a professional username that reflects your brand (e.g. FlevyConsulting).<\/p>\n<p>After you register, you will receive a confirmation email to validate your email address. \u00a0Open that email and click the activation link inside. \u00a0This will\u00a0immediately activate your Flevy account.<\/p>\n<p>After your Flevy account is activated, you can now login to your Flevy Account: <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/account\">https:\/\/flevy.com\/account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2. Setting up your author profile.<\/h2>\n<p>Flevy is a completely self-service platform. \u00a0Everything is controlled from within your <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/account\">Flevy Account<\/a>. \u00a0 This includes such activities like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uploading and modifying documents.<\/li>\n<li>Checking your sales and payout history.<\/li>\n<li>Setting up your author profile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this second step, we will focus on setting up your author profile. \u00a0This is a 1 time task. \u00a0Go to the the <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/account\/profile\">Profile &amp; Settings page<\/a>\u00a0(in your Flevy Account) and complete the following 2 fields:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Display Name.<\/strong> \u00a0The &#8220;display name&#8221; is a user friendly version of your author name&#8211;i.e. what your want potential customers to see. \u00a0For instance, whereas your Flevy username might be &#8220;FlevyConsulting,&#8221; your display name can be &#8220;Flevy Business Documents Consulting.&#8221; \u00a0If you are an individual, this can just be your name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Background.<\/strong> \u00a0This is where you enter your author bio (or firm&#8217;s &#8220;about us&#8221;\u00a0information). \u00a0This will appear on your author profile page. Use this section to speak to your expertise and credentials. Do not use all capital letters. \u00a0There is also a 60 character limit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Document Description.<\/strong> \u00a0Please try to write at least 300 words in the document description. Providing a detailed description dramatically improves sales. HTML, links, and contact information are not allowed.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/blog\/selling-on-flevy-writing-and-optimizing-the-document-description\/\">Read this article for best practice guidelines on how to write your document description.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Document Benefits.<\/strong> \u00a0This is optional. \u00a0To help the customer quickly understand the value and benefits of your document, you may list up to 3 core benefits of your document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Functional Focus.<\/strong>\u00a0 Select up to 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Industry Focus.<\/strong> \u00a0Select only 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Primary Document.<\/strong> \u00a0Click the &#8220;Choose File&#8221; to select the document you would like to upload.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Customer Preview Options.<\/strong> \u00a0This refers to the amount of slides\/pages to display in the partial preview for potential customers. \u00a0We recommend keeping the default (i.e. every third slide\/page).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Secondary Document.<\/strong> \u00a0This is optional. \u00a0If you have an accompanying document, you can also attach it to this product listing. \u00a0If you have more than 1 secondary document, please email <a href=\"mailto:support@flevy.com\">support@flevy.com<\/a> to assist you with this. \u00a0If you have a secondary document, please\u00a0explain its purpose within the Document Description section.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Price.<\/strong> \u00a0The minimum price is $20. \u00a0To gain a sense of how you should price your document, we recommend browsing the <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/browse\">Flevy marketplace<\/a> and seeing what similar documents are priced at. \u00a0For your information, the average sold document is $45 and the average transaction size is $90.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you are done with the form, click the blue &#8220;Submit for\u00a0Approval&#8221; button.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulations! \u00a0You have just uploaded your first document on Flevy!<\/strong> \u00a0Once uploaded, your document enters our approval and review process. \u00a0We typically will review your document within 2-3 business days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* * * *<\/p>\n<p>Got more questions?\u00a0 Please check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/flevy.com\/faq\">FAQs<\/a>. \u00a0\u00a0Also, don&#8217;t hesitate to email us at <a href=\"mailto:support@flevy.com\">support@flevy.com<\/a> if you have any additional questions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interested in becoming an author on Flevy.com?
