Here are just some such\u00a0obstacles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Companies try to use just one segmentation model for all\/different purposes.<\/li>\n<li>Companies have multiple segmentation models without a clear and consistent linkage among them.<\/li>\n<li>Companies base the model on data at hand vs. data needed to make the insights relevant.<\/li>\n<li>Management is not aligned on what drives and what describes the market.<\/li>\n<li>Companies allow complexity of a few key customers interfere wit ha simple market view.<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of the segmentation is \u201clost in translation\u201d when executed on an operational level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are 3 distinct types of segmentation levels&#8211;<strong>Strategic Segmentation<\/strong>, <strong>Tactical Segmentation<\/strong>, and <strong>Operational Segmentation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Strategic Segmentation<\/h2>\n<p>Otherwise known as <strong>Market Segmentation<\/strong>, Strategic Segmentation seeks to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the market landscape of our business.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate where we are doing business.<\/li>\n<li>Identify and prioritize attractive market segments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Strategic Segmentation seeks to answer the questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Where do we grow?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What industries and verticals?
